New York Brick Oven Company Implicated in Fork-Gate with Mayor de Blasio

The New York Brick Oven Company is responsible for cooking the incredible Smoking Goodfella pizza at the heart of the now international pizza scandal known as Fork-gate. The owners of the New York Brick of Company and founders of Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza, Marc and Scot Cosentino, had no idea of what they were about to cook up around the world when they were asked to prepare a smoked mozzarella pizza by Mayor de Blasio of New York City. The Mayor had heard of the famous Cosentino brothers pizza creations and when he learned they had smoked mozzarella on the menu, he asked Marc to make him a pie in his now industry leading revolving deck brick oven. No strangers to preparing pizza for New York City Mayors the brothers called on pizza partner Andrew Scudera  who holds "World's Best Pizza" title from the International Pizza Expo and runs the Goodfella's Pizza School of New York to help. With this kind of experience and passion for pizza it's no wonder these guys came up with a fantastic pizza prepared to perfection for the new Mayor. Everything was was moving along splendidly with smiles and laughs as de Blasio enjoyed his pizza until controversy hit. One of the throngs of reporters jammed into Goodfella's for the pizza summit noticed the Mayor eating pizza with a fork which was intentionally being ignored by the majority of Italian Americans in attendance. Somehow the now "Infamous Fork" became the center of the conversation and became the lead story for all the major news stations and became a top twitter story with Mayor tweeting about it himself.
"Cooking the best ingredients with the world's best pizza makers in the industries best oven can only lead to success" said Marc Cosentino (a former sergeant NYPD) who through habit, promptly placed that fork in an evidence bag and "vouchered it" for safe keeping and a future fund raiser with the Mayor.

Giant slice of pizza is now the sexiest apparel.

It seems the best dressed girls are now lining up for pizza! Yes as the old saying goes " the way to man's heart is through his stomach" is now being taken to new levels. Maybe a pizza scented perfume is not that far off. One of my favorite dates was when my girl showed up at the door with a suasage and mushroom pie but maybe I'm a little predjudice having been in the pizza industryfor many years. Honestly though you can't go wrong on a first date with a fantastic pizza from a local place and if you girls are thinking about winning over a man why not ask him out yourself, even if you end up getting stuck with the bill in this politically correct era it shouldn't be too bad. For those of you lucky enough to be in the New York area you may want to check out the 3 time international pizza champs at Goodfella's In staten island afeter a romantic ride on the Staten Island Ferry and a great view of Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. They have an incredible Rotating Brick Oven, full service bar and restaurant. Happy pizza.

International Pizza Expo Winner

Come to the original Goodfella's located on 1718 Hylan Blvd to try the latest award winning creation, "The Tequila Pizza" made with Fresh Mozzarella, Pancetta, Shrimp, and a Tequila Sauce made from Patron Tequila, then garnished with a fresh homemade Mango Salsa.  Deliciously refreshing.  The pizza took top honors at the Las Vegas Pizza Expo in 2012, making this a 3rd International Win for Goodfella's Hylan. Kowing how to cook pizza in a wood burning brick oven makes all the difference when you want that authentic crust. Happy Pizza to you!

Fugettaboutit! Suport the troops that support you.

Perhaps being a USAF veteran and having a father that was a US Marine have influenced me a bit but I am always humbled and honored when I meet a United States soldier.

Taking the oath of enlistment: "I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." is a big deal.

Enlisting, moving far away from your home and family with the distinct possibility of becoming a prisoner, mamed or killed in action in as even bigger deal. On occasion we at Goodfella's get to take care of these fine people that are sacrificing for our freedom and we consider it an honor to cook  pizza in our brick oven for them and do what little we can to make their lives a little more comfortable or enjoyable while letting them that we care and respect them.

When we received this photo from the Commander telling us he " got our backs" it was very touching and is one of those great moments. God bless America and all it stands for.

Rotating Brick Ovens For True Italian American Pizza

brick ovensHaving cooked pizza for decades in a traditional brick oven it took a little getting used to the idea of a revolving deck brick oven but all I can say is "where have you been all my life". Imagine getting a perfect pizza every time with about 1/10 the work. Not only that but every pie is perfect and you don't have to "work" the oven. Hard to believe? Well come on down to the original Goodfella's Brick Oven Pizza on Hylan Blvd. in Staten Island and see for yourself. You just put the pizza in the wood and gas fired oven, the rotating deck spins at the perfect pace and then you use a short pizza peel to take it out right where you put it in a couple minutes ago. No turning the pizza every minute, no looking out for hot spots on the oven cooking surface, no more cold spots-wow! Visit www.goodfellas.com and www.brickovensforsale.com for more info and happy pizza making.

The joy of pizza!

Where do I begin? Taste, flavor ingredients, dough, prepping, or baking methods? Having been in the pizza business for over 20 years I have a lot to draw on here but it always comes down to my favorite part of the business, the people. I have been extremely fortunate in the pizza world but I realize it is like Thomas Edison said that genius is disguised as hard work, and working hard 7 days a week for years does pay off, if you survive. We started Goodfellas Brick Oven Pizza   www.goodfellas.com back in 1993 after my brother and I quit our jobs and went "all in". Serving our customers, hearing their stories and becoming part of their lives over the years is what made it worthwhile for me. From engagements to weddings and births to the first days of school, baseball, communions, graduations, and birthdays, wow! It's like having a gigantic family and the pleasure of sharing all the fun. Yes, there were times of heartbreak too such as 911 and Hurricane Sandy but I remember a customer saying this in the days after the attacks on our country " I'm disgusted and in a daze but I always stop here on my way home because you guys always make me smile and feel better".  What is that worth? Priceless. Next blog will be about cooking in the NY Brick Oven Co. Wood fired brick oven and how it adds to the fun.  www.brickovensforsale.com
